Hi Loves,
I hope you are finding all the ways to enjoy the season. The weather, the flowers, the water, the wildlife have all been tremendous. When I check in with folks it seems most of them are staying close to their own hearts and enjoying the precious moments. Ben and I took Tessa on her first backpacking adventure this weekend. It was my hearts delight to hear her utter the words, "This is fun!" and getting home and saying "That was fun!" Parenting win! Most people that know me would think that of course Tessa would think backpacking was fun and would be surprised that she hadn't gone earlier. But Tessa is her own being and resists much of what her parents think is fun. I don't particularly like to jump in cold water, no less swim in cold water, but I have been leaning into that resistance for some years now. Actually I force myself to jump in and I am always glad I did. Even though I was born in the summer, I can resist summer in many ways, but I watch that resistance come up and it reminds me to lean in because otherwise I am missing the life that is right here. The last email I wrote about Pam Emmerich I resisted and it took about two weeks to get it out to all of you. When I hit send, I instantly was nauseous and wasn't sure I could stomach dinner. I knew it would trigger grief, sadness, heartbreak, shame and guilt. And then all of your beautiful responses came in. I loved that almost half were from men. There were tears of gratitude, remembering the life that touched us through Pam. There were tears in the remembering how precious this life is including you, the one reading this, and to continue to wake up. I hope you all are leaning into where you are resisting life(often it's the intimacy) and in that finding out what you have been missing.
I am super grateful that the North Tahoe Event Center is letting me use the patio to hold A Practice for Pam on Tuesday, Aug.18th 5:45-7:15. I would like to gather those that were a part of the Kings Beach Kula, that practiced alongside Pam, to come together, to be with each other's hearts (six feet apart of course). Let me know if you plan on coming just so we have an idea of what to prepare for. I know parking there now is a fee, so in the spirit of Pam, I highly encourage coming on your bike. Also Pam loved the Tahoe Food Hub and made automatic donations to them every month. In honor of Pam, I will be encouraging participants to donate as well.
Lastly, I still have spaces available for Yoga on the Deck tomorrow at Tahoe Cross Country. Last weeks practice was beautiful and I was told, needed. Respond if you would like to join. First five to pay, get the spaces. Venmo @Shari-Beard-1
So much love to you all!
Namaste,
Shari
